Welcome back to Hump Day Update, the place to find out everything you need to know about what’s been going on in the entertainment world for the week. I’m Rachel A.G. Gilman. But enough about me, let’s get to the news.
Cardi B released the news that she will be putting out her debut album soon, giving us a sneak peak at the cover artwork for “Invasion of Privacy” out April 6. The picture features her signature pose of sticking out her tongue, showing even when you hit it big some things will never change.
There have been rumors that “The Big Bang Theory” will be coming to an end sometime in the near future, and with that brings the question of whether or not socially awkward Raj will ever find love in the way his friends have managed to do. The cast pondered the subject at the Paleyfest this past weekend, but personally, I think it’s silly that the only guy with the cute dog is the only one not attracting the girls (all dating apps would lead us to believe otherwise).
Christina Aguilera kicked off her new era of music by showing a make-up free face on the cover of Paper Magazine. Not only did she look absolutely beautiful, but she also realized that she can get ready in the morning in half the time — sounds like a win-win situation!
“Roseanne” returned this week on ABC and brought the old gang back together where differing political interests clashed and the question of money was still a relevant one. If you want a sitcom that feels a little bit too much returning home for the holidays with everyone loving each other but not getting along, then you’ll be thankful for the reboot.
Drake has got yet another music video out, this time for his song with Trouble, “Bring It Back,” which is being called a moody masterpiece with its black and white color palette and shots of Drake playing video games. As if you needed another reason to dream about him at night.
Claire Foy has finally responded to the recent revelation that her character on Netflix’s “The Crown” was paid less than Matt Smith’s character, and mind you Claire Foy was playing the Queen of England (the star of the show!). The actress handled the controversy with poise and class, like true royalty, of course, and added Matt Smith felt the same. Might be nice if he put his money where his mouth was, though…
The Weeknd has hinted that his new album is almost ready, so get ready to dance along to your most extreme emotions with a whole new soundtrack of songs.
“The Good Doctor” had its Season 1 finale this week and brought on a slew of emotions when Dr. Shaun Murphy made every attempt to try and find a breakthrough treatment for Dr. Glassman’s brain cancer. However, the titular character might be losing his job in the second season alongside Glassman. Damn, do they know how to leave us on a cliffhanger.
And finally, this weekend saw the country focused on the need for changes in the laws concerning gun ownership, and musicians and actors were in the mix of supporters, from Nick Offerman, Paul McCartney, Demi Lovato, and many more. It’s a little disheartening that children and celebrities are more logical on things than our politicians, but I’m glad someone is finally saying and doing something.
Hope you enjoyed this week! See you back here next week. Hope the Easter bunny or whatever odd animal is associated with Passover makes an appearance in your life this weekend and brings chocolate along for the journey.
