Welcome back to Hump Day Update, the place to find out everything you need to know about what’s been going on in the entertainment world for the week. I’m Rachel A.G. Gilman. But enough about me, let’s get to the news.
FOX might be in the hands of the new medical hit with the upcoming premiere of “The Resident” starring Matt Czuchry (yes, it’s Logan from “Gilmore Girls”) and Emily VanCamp all grown up and no longer seeking “revenge.” For any of you in the process of applying to medical school, just blame the competition on so many more people thinking they’ll go in and join a slew of hunky surgeons thanks to these shows.
Yesterday was the first day of Hanukkah, and the HAIM sisters celebrated with a brand new song to celebrate the holiday, featuring love for dreidels, vodka, and the whole works that the holiday has to bring. If they do an actual recording of this and put it up on iTunes, I’d download – just saying…
James Cordon is celebrating the holidays early with a special edition of carpool karaoke, featuring your favorite celebrities dressed up for the holidays and singing Christmas carols. These seem to have been filmed throughout the entire year, so consider how much funnier they are knowing Bruno Mars was belting out “Jingle Bell Rock” in the middle of Los Angeles summer heat.
Beyoncé scored her first hit in nine years with the release of her recent debut with Ed Sheeran on his song “Perfect,” which makes me wonder if Sheeran is really Irish with all of that red hair and the good luck he brings to all of his musical partners. Anyone else want to check out the leprechaun status?
The trailer for the third season of “Fuller House” on Netflix was released this week, where we saw the gang heading to Tokyo for Steve’s wedding, DJ getting proposed to, and Stephanie and Kimmy Gibbler discussing the possibility of having a bay since one of them was ready to have it “cook in the oven.” Believe it or not, all of these things are true, so if you’re not into the cute dogs and babies then you’ll at least be excited by the show’s never ending drama.
In more Ed Sheeran news, he has also collaborated with Eminem on a new song, which the two revealed was most likely heard by cows before it was exposed to anyone else when they were writing on a farm. The reviews are in from the bovine and they were quite moo-ved.
The new season of “The Bachelor” is just around the corner, meaning it’s time for you to learn some facts about a group of women whose names you probably won’t be able to remember again in just a few hours, but enjoy the fun knowledge while it lasts. Many of the contestants have similarities that they write about in their bios, including hand and feet tattoos, their passion for swimming, and Disney princess envy. If you’re confused already, be prepared for the FOUR Laurens. This is not a joke.
Lil Wayne announced that he’s going to be releasing new music this Christmas as a present to all of his fans. Just make sure your headphones aren’t turned up to loud if you listen with mom and dad in the car. No reason to have to answer even more family questions during the holidays.
And finally Alice Cooper is set to star in “Jesus Christ Superstar Live!” coming up this spring. If I wasn’t already afraid of so many ideas in the Bible, I think I definitely am now. Can anyone else think of a more unsettling image to put in our heads less than two weeks before Christmas?
Hope you enjoyed this week and this entire semester of Hump Day Update! Have an amazing winter break and stay strong in the home stretch of finals, NYU. Until 2018…
