Welcome back to Hump Day Update, the place to find out everything you need to know about what’s been going on in the entertainment world for the week. I’m Rachel A.G. Gilman. But enough about me, let’s get to the news.
The love of my life Stephen Colbert will be hosting the Emmys this weekend, so “The Late Show” was in reruns, but they did announce that next week they will be joined by Hillary Clinton – the real one this time, not just the cartoon Stephen likes to talk and play pretend with, so look forward to a lot of jokes your boring parents would probably make.
Nick Jonas has a new video in the desert for his single “Find You,” which fans were joking shows him looking very, very hot. I guess no one remembers that this JoBro is no stranger to how it feels to be burnin’ up.
“The Walking Dead” has had to shut down production in Atlanta, Georgia due to the biggest story of the week, Hurricane Irma, which sent the entire state into a state of emergency. If there’s anything scarier than water flooding towns and destroying homes, it’s having zombies around to help you recover your life.
Harry Styles will be kicking off his solo tour in one week, just in case you’re without a teenager in your life to remind you. He was preparing this week when he stopped by BBC Radio 1’s studios to do an acoustic set of songs, including the classic Fleetwood Mac song, “The Chain,” not long after her performance on stage with Stevie Nicks. If your parents remain unsold on whether or not they want to listen to the guy, they’ll probably want to take him to dinner after realizing he’s into their music, too.
ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” is still finding new princesses to introduce us to and this season it’s set to be Cinderella (well, again, but different), who they are planning to showcase as “raw and edgy.” I’m not sure what that means but I’m assuming she’d going to be losing a combat boot instead of a glass slipper.
In more new music news, Demi Lovato has released the slow break-up song “You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore” this week, an R&B influenced track about her moving on from an old lover. It’s the same song I sing to the healthy snacks on display in Sidestein before I start serenading the chocolate covered pretzels with Etta James’s “At Last.”
“Big Brother” on CBS has been big this summer, and has announced that it will be back this winter for a celebrity edition – already quite popular abroad. So if you ever wondered what would happen if you put little-known actors, musicians, and socialites into a house with a lot of cameras around them for the most ridiculous charity fundraiser ever, I guess all of your television dreams will be coming true…?
If you’re still thinking about the VMAs, maybe stop? Or know that Lorde hired “hot” doctors to give her shots before the event because she was sick and needed the boost. Oh, if only that was part of the NYU health insurance plan.
And finally, “The Bachelor” for next season has finally been chosen and it is Arie Luyendyk Jr. from 2012’s season of “The Bachelorette,” which answers all questions about what happens to old contestants of the show: they are forced to keep participating until their screen time stops equating to comfortable economic gain for the network. Oh, what people will watch to believe in love…
Hope you enjoyed this week! See you back here again next Wednesday. Enjoy the end of warm weather!
