This past Thursday BRIC Arts Media in Brooklyn celebrated Music Makes You, a live concert and auction in support of Music Education for disadvantaged children. The D’Addario foundation helped to benefit the event. D’Addario Foundation is a leader in music education. They find, fund and partner with the most transformative music education organizations in the world. With all their events, 100 percent of every dollar raised from “Music Makes You” goes directly to programs on the frontlines, which equates to thousands of children who have access to the impact of music education.
Grammy nominated producer, songwriter and guitarist Blake Mills served as the evening’s band leader. Hosting the event was Comedian Seth Herzog who is featured on the Jimmy Fallon late night show.
There was an opening performance from the Brooklyn Steppers drumline. There were special performances by Karen O & Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lucius, Janis Ian, Smokey Hormel, Kaki King, Julian Lage and Marc Ribot. Jackson Browne closed the night with an inspiring performance.
