As the school year winds down, summer begins, as does a new season of favorite returning and new TV shows. Along with the major TV networks launching their summer season through May and June, Netflix is also launching multiple series in the coming weeks.
Smash hit “Pretty Little Liars” will return on ABC family on June 2nd for its sixth season. This season promises big reveals, including an end to the lingering question of the identity of “A” and where the crew is. “Baby Daddy” and “Melissa and Joey,” return for the second half of their fourth seasons, “Melissa and Joey” for its last. Starring Italia Ricci as a young woman struggling with cancer and big dreams, “Smash Hit” returns for an engrossing season two on June 10th.
Disney’s “Boy Meets World” was rebooted for a spin off mid-summer 2014 entitled “Girl Meets World.” After a successful first season both in reviews and ratings, it returns for a fun and endearing second season on May 11. This latest season comes with the promise of reappearances by some of the original series’ favorite characters such as Mr. Feeny, Angela, and Shawn, apart from Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel already reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga Matthews regularly as the parents of the young Riley, who stars at the center of her own coming of age story much like her father. This show definitely lives up to its predecessor and anyone looking for a peek into the current lives of their favorite characters is sure to be pleasantly surprised with a blast of nostalgia.
BBC America’s first original comedy series “Almost Royal” is a fake reality show following the fumbling of 2 supposed British aristocrats and their interactions on a visit to America received much critical praise for its first season. It was renewed for a second season in December and is set to premiere this summer.
“Suits,” one of USA Network’s critic and fan favorite long running series was renewed in August for another 16 episode season. This fifth season is set to premiere this summer on June 24th in its regular Wednesday time slot.
Summer 2015 promises lots of laughs, suspense, thrills, and heartwarming moments. This year’s summer lineup is has many waiting in anticipation for the return of their favorite shows as well as new engrossing obsessions. As exciting as ever, this season is sure to fulfill expectations.
